Rotary Programs We Support

Rotary Youth Exchange

Rotary's Youth Exchange program is an outstanding opportunity for young people from around the world to get to know another culture.  And in the process, they really come to understand themselves!

Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary Club has been actively involved in Youth Exchange for almost 3 decades.  Each year, the club agrees to host a student (between the ages of 16 and 18) for a year.  The inbound student is hosted by 3 or 4 families, usually Rotarian, and he or she will attend Georgian Bay Secondary School in Meaford.

As a consequence of "signing up" for the program, we have the privilege of nominating a young person from our own community to become our "outbound" student in the program.  If successful, he or she will be off to one of dozens of foreign destinations for a year.  The outbounds usually depart in August each year and return usually the following July.

This outstanding program provides an incredible opportunity for self-growth for  the young persons involved.  In the process, they truly become "ambassadors" for their countries, their communities and their families, and in so doing further world understanding and peace.
